Dear Friends,
We have three new Solemnly Professed Friars to add to our Franciscan Family: Brothers George, John, and Edgardo. Solemn Vows are taken by Friars to signify the end of their “training” and the beginning of their lives as Friars. The Mass of Solemn Vows is very beautiful, and this day was no exception as many of the Friars come together for this wonderful event. Just before they made their vows, the three young men lay prostrate in the center aisle as everyone sang the Litany of the Saints. Then the three young men made their vows of poverty, chastity and obedience to our Provincial, Fr. Kevin, by placing their hands within his as they ask Almighty God and the Blessed Virgin for help in their new Franciscan life. After the Newly vowed Friars have taken their vows, all the Friars process up to the sanctuary and embrace our new brothers in the Franciscan Family! This has been a tradition for centuries! After Mass, all the Friars wait to greet their new brothers outside the church after Mass.
Your prayers and support help these young men hear God’s call to the Franciscan way of life, answer God’s call, vow their lives in poverty, chastity and obedience in order to live in fraternity and serve you – the People of God.
